console-data (1999.08.29-10.1) frozen unstable; urgency=high
  * Upload of all the changes in -10 to frozen as well as unstable, since
    the changelog for that version said:
      "Previous implementation of ppc/m68k subarch detection was broken, so
      this fixed version has to be in potato. Also closes last important
      bugs."

    Closes: #55045, #55782, #55827, #57113 (3 important bugs)
    This is merely a hack, console-data's (ab)use of debconf is too insane to
    be believed, and is in dire need of a redesign from scratch, IMHO.

    According to Bugtraq there is a security flaw in mysql that allowes

  * New upstream release, which is only a security bug fix release:
    - Removed the "feature" that allowed the REQUEST object to be traversed

    Therefore, the package can go into frozen.
    If you made use of this feature, it's still possible to use it with
    2.1.4: "Simply make a DTML Method in your root folder called 'DEBUG'
    (or something similar) containing the line: <dtml-var REQUEST>
    and set its permissions so that only Managers can view it."

    (closes: #57767). This is a grave security problem which does only

  * Fixes #55556, #35145, #39895
  * Matthew Grant <grantma@anathoth.gen.nz> v0.28
    Initial development release for use with new bridge ioctls. This is
    still incomplete, but the basic stuff is thereprobably. The program out
    still needed cleaning up. I remember it having 1 or 2 bugs though.
    Included first patches.
  * Matthew Grant <grantma@anathoth.gen.nz> v0.29
    Bridgex code finally cleaned up, core dump bugs fixed. Command line
    parsing cleaned up so that the program no longer segfaults when you give
    it something unsual. Messages cleaned up so that it behaves rather like
    ifconfig. Takes itnerface names as arguments. Typing brcfg --help (or
    -h?) gives an output of the command syntax. Patch for 2.2.12 included.
  * Matthew Grant <grantma@anathoth.gen.nz> v0.30
    2.2.12 patch upgraded and 2.3.x patch dropped because of some fixes to
    kernel. brcfg unchanged.

  * Installed workaround from Joel Klecker to fix the annoying termcap

    #55142, #56987, and #46270
  * Given the number of times people tend to report this bug, and how much
    it confuses them (people who mysteriously think the one line of warning
    means the entire install failed (see bug #56987), and so on), and since
    it is a 1 line workaround, I think this is a candidate for frozen.

    installed systems unusable.
  * Added dpkg-preconfigure to debconf-tiny, since this:
    a) lets debconf-tiny use debconf's postinst unchanged

  * pcmcia-cs has changed again. Apparently, bugs in serial.o in the kernel
    is breaking pcmcia, and the upstream maintainer now uses setserial to
    do some stuff to get around these bugs. However, I have patched Debian
    setserial to avoid doing things to pcmcia serial ports in order to close
    many of the pcmcia-related setserial bugs...
    I have therefore changed the way pcmcia filtering is done in setserial.
    Now, pcmcia devices are reported using -G, but the report ends with
    "pcmcia". This flag is ignored whereever it appears in a setserial
    configuration request. Thus, pcmcia devices are clearly marked, and
    are filtered out using grep in /etc/init.d/setserial.

  * Fixed 2 sprintf calls in launch_url that get untrusted text passed
    into them, and so could be used for exploits in theory.
  * Also fixed a quoting bug that let attackers run arbitrary commands by
    embedding them in URLs. (This is not entirely fixed, but you are safe if
    you use the suggested quoting in the slrn man page. It should really use
    exec..)
  * Luckily, there are 2 barriers for either of these security holes to be
    expolited: first, the user is presented with the url before the browser
    is launched (though an attacker could simply pad the front of the url with
    something innocuous and hope the victim didn't scroll all the way to the
    end of it). Second, you have to have non_Xbrowser or Xbrowser set in your
    .slrnrc, and they are not set by default. Still, this needs to go into
    frozen. Closes: #57616
  * The bug reporter is right, slrn needs a through audit. :-(

  * Non-maintainer upload, blessed by the maintainer.
  * Fix porting issues by making xaw3d (the libc5-compat package)
    Architecture: i386 m68k, closes: #17184, #27133, #32244, #53515.
    [important]
  * Used xlib6-altdev tools, too (xmkmf), to make libc5 version depend
    on libc5 X libs (does anyone actually use this libc5-compat lib?!).
    [important]
  * Added Replaces: xaw3dg (<< 1.3-6.4) to xaw3dg-dev, because dpkg would
    barf when upgrading from versions of xaw3dg prior to that one, which
    still contained the static library. [important]
  * Updated for Policy 3.1. Converted to debhelper v2. Lintian clean.
  * Removed Conflicts: and Replaces: xaw3d from xaw3dg, as libc6 version
    does not replace functionality of libc5 version (theoretically that
    doesn't even work).
  * Did strip --strip-debug on the static library (through dh_strip),
    reducing it by more than a half in size.
  * Used upstream Imakefile/Makefile to install things (not for
    libc5-compat, though), actually the only modified variable is $(INCDIR).
    The difference is that three header files are removed - but those were
    most probably extra anyway; and one .c file added - but it seems to be
    on purpose.
  * Made the libc5-compat Imakefile build only the shared library, as we
    don't use the static one, to reduce build time.
  * Made `clean' rule work all the time.
  * Moved xaw3dg-dev to section devel and xaw3d to oldlibs.
  * Moved Suggests: nextawg to xaw3dg package.
  * Upgrade to new xaw-wrappers obsoletes xaw3d(g)'s xaw-wrappers files,
    removed them now. Added Suggests: xaw-wrappers to library packages.
  * Made -dev depend on the exact same version of library package.
    Made -dev package's doc directory a symlink to library package's dir.
  * Removed version from xlib6(g) dependency from the shlibs file... it
    changes constantly in xlib6(g) itself, and dpkg-shlibdeps uses the
    xlib6g's one anyway, so there's no point in using it.
  * Unconditionally fixed lib/Xaw3d/XawI18n.h, to remove need for setting
    -DDEBIAN through make cmdline flags.
  * Changed backup tempfile location in postinsts from /etc to /var/run.
  * Some s/3d/3D/ changes. Renamed debian.README to README.Debian.
    Clarified descriptions in control and in xaw3dg postinst.
