No kernel modules found in testing+non-free isos

Greetings. I'm getting the dreaded "No kernel modules were found" error message trying to install from the testing+non-free isos into a virtual machine.

I tried (both downloaded freshly less than an hour ago)
https://get.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware/weekly-builds/amd64/iso-cd/firmware-testing-amd64-netinst.iso
and also
https://get.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware/daily-builds/sid_d-i/current/amd64/iso-cd/firmware-testing-amd64-netinst.iso

Can you help me out with what to try next?

Best,
Avi

On an unrelated side note, putting testing images under a folder called sid is confusing to outsiders.
