AW: recherche linux

Title: AW: recherche linux

an other possibility - if you do not have 100% Linux compliant hardware, as was in my case a couple of months ago - is to use VMware. If your PC hardware is up to date, then installing Linux in a VM is very interesting, especially as with VMware 4 you have a feature called snapshot. You can save your configuration, try to go over the next step, if o.k. save again, if restore the old state

depends on what you need Linux for, for testing and learning Linux it is a very interesting approach

Hi,

[list and private - usually, please reply only to the list]

Most (Debian-) mailing lists are english - please use debian-users-fr if you
don't speak english.

You'll have to use Partition Magic or somesuch to get enough space (3-4G
should be enough - 500M would suffice in theory). Linux needs a dedicated
partition.

Sorry, don't understand that question.

Yes. If you just want to try Linux, I'd recommend you to get Knoppix, which is
essentially a Debian system set up on a CD, so it should run ok without any
installation.
