Hi, Seems the 3.0_r0 sparc CDs have issues on UltraSparc. I presume that the right way to fix this is edit silo.conf, put it in CVS, and then regenerate the images and release them as 3.0_r0.1 later this week. For reference, here's the silo.conf that was used. =-=-=-=- partition=1 timeout=600 read-only message=/boot/debian.txt default=linux append="cdrom" initrd=/dists/stable/main/disks-sparc/current/images-1.44/root.bin # Standard boot images image[sun4c,sun4d,sun4m]=/boot/sparc32.gz label=linux image[sun4u]=/boot/sparc64.gz label=linux # Rescue boots image[sun4c,sun4d,sun4m]=/boot/sparc32.gz label=rescue append="init=/bin/sh" image[sun4u]=/boot/sparc64 label=rescue append="init=/bin/sh" =-=-=-=- I've Cc:ed this to johnie@debian.org (netgod from the attached mail) Cheers, Phil. -- Say no to software patents! http://petition.eurolinux.org/ |)| Philip Hands [+44 (0)20 8530 9560] http://www.hands.com/ |-| HANDS.COM Ltd. http://www.uk.debian.org/ |(| 10 Onslow Gardens, South Woodford, London E18 1NE ENGLAND

Phil, netgod was installing fresh 3.0r0 CDs on an UltraSparc today and discovered an issue with the boot (it's barsted, essentially): <infinity> netgd : What happens? <netgd> infinity: if you hit enter it looks for /boot/sparc64.gz when the file is actually called /boot/sparc64 <infinity> netgd : Is this with the release version of the CD? <netgd> infinity: i can force it to boot by giving the right file, but then it screams about there being no root <netgd> infinity: 3.0r0 just jigdoed <netgd> the workaround is to type "/boot/sparc64 initrd=/dists/stable/main/disks-sparc/current/images-1.44/root.bin" at the SILO boot: prompt <netgd> yeah its just a typo in the silo.conf Is it too late to fix this stealthily without having to do a 3.0r0.1 special release for Sparc only or something? ...
