Grub can be used in a normal floppy-image, but it can't access to a cdrom
device. I don't know if in 2.88Mb can fit the code to access into a IDE
cdrom device, most SCSI cdrom device, handle a menu and load and boot a
kernel from an iso9660 filesystem...

I think this is a hard work...
