No, its the volid, which ends up being 33 characters long, whereas the
limit seems to be either 31 or 32

I suggest that we map powerpc to ppc for the volids on all the powerpc
CDs

If it wasn't for the fact that open's taken to crashing whenever I try
to build a CD set, I'd have a patch for you.  (we MUST be about to
release, the pre-release jinx is starting to bite :-)

Anyway, I should be able to install some new RAM tomorrow, and sort
that out, at which point I'll redo the powerpc disks, and mention the
two tiny patches required to make them (assuming they work).
