Problem making bootable cd images with debian-cd !!!

Folks,
I have tried to use the debian-cd utility to create bootable cd
images for potato. Doing a "make mirrorcheck" and "make status" work
fine. However, the problem is when I do the "make bootable" command. I
get the following errors:

hook:/usr/share/debian-cd# make bootable
Apt-get is updating his files ...

I have a complete mirror (at least all the binary stuff) for the
i386 platform only. This is mirrored every night from ftp.debian.org.

I have tried version 2.2.0, as well as 2.1.92, but the problem is
the same in both cases. I have also received the latest (I belive) from
CVS , but this dosn't work either.

I am running potato on an i386.

    Anybody got any ideas ?

    Thanks,

    Cheers,
        Paul.
