Package: kfreebsd-image-10.1-0-amd64
Version: 10.1~svn274115-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I have several QEMU/KVM virtual machines running. All have essentially
the same
configuration and are configured to use the virtio balloon machanism.

With Linux as the guest kernel the ballooning works correctly, on start
up the
virtual machines allocates just the amount of memory from the host that is
actually in use.

With kFreeBSD however the ballooning does not work. On start up the virtual
machine allocates the complete assinged memory from the host, even if the
memory usage inside the guest is much lower.

The virtio-balloon module is loaded inside the guest:
>vm02 ~ # kldstat -v|grep virtio
> 440 virtio_pci/virtio_scsi
> 439 virtio_pci/virtio_balloon
> 438 virtio_pci/virtio_blk
> 437 virtio_pci/vtnet
> 436 pci/virtio_pci
> 435 virtio

Thanks for you work!

Best regards,
Jan Henke
