You can begin building this now if you like, and then upload to unstable
(source-only), as soon as you see the d-i Beta 2 announcement:

I think the changelog is now exactly as it should be for upload;  I
assumed you'd be the one uploading:

and I'm supposed to sign off with my own name, as the one who initially
prepared this upload - the most recent Debian Policy doesn't allow me to
use the mailing list address any more:
