Re: Network not recognised during install.

Hi,

I've just added the following to the Wiki FAQ for future reference.

(Although I suggest you just try to find another NIC - you can find PCI
NICs in old PCs from days before motherboard-integrated NICs, or I've
had 3Com 3C905's off eBay in the past for only £0.99 delivered - and
then be able to run a pure free-software system.)

Q. Why is my network card not recognised?

A. If the NIC or its driver requires non-free firmware blobs, Debian
cannot ship these in the main archive. And there is also no mechanism
in kFreeBSD to load non-free blobs from a separate package, e.g. from
/lib/firmware/ .

Some of the unsupported NICs are:

If you want to compile a kernel to support these NICs, with the
necessary non-free firmware blobs compiled into it, please find
instructions at:

http://bugs.debian.org/642468#10

(You can use "apt-get source kfreebsd-9" to get a recent kernel, instead
of the wget command line suggested there).
