I've made some progress in preparing for the co-installation of Debian next to a pre-installed Windows (which I think would be a typical use case).
I've switched my focus to a Calamares installation (available on live images) and the first automated test results are in:
Windows 10 and trixie: https://openqa.debian.net/tests/410382 Windows 10 and sid: https://openqa.debian.net/tests/410374 Windows 11 and trixie: https://openqa.debian.net/tests/410383 Windows 11 and sid: https://openqa.debian.net/tests/410375 The tests for sid run daily and the tests for trixie run 2x per week.It was already known that dual boot was working, but now this is proven as part of an automated test.
The test is: * Install Windows to an empty HD * Use Windows onboard partitioning tools to provide space for Debian * Install Debian in the free space (using Calamares) * Reboot to Debian * Do a smoke test of Debian after the installation * Reboot to Windows Next step: use d-i.
