I think what I had in mind at the time was: - the current behaviour (pulling stuff through Recommends) is fine enough for most use cases; at least Steve agrees with me on this. - but if recommends are disabled entirely, maybe we could skip installing shim-signed, to avoid the “nonsensical” combination pointed out by Ben; I was welcoming a bug report for that second point, rather than for the first one. Otherwise we would have just reassigned the initial report instead of closing it. Hope it clarifies.
