Looking at partman-auto I don't think there's anything like what you're
wishing for. And yes, early_command might be your friend, from the
partman-base templates:
| Template: partman/early_command
| Type: string
| Description: for internal use; can be preseeded
|  Shell command or commands to run immediately before partitioning
