Bug#702611: installation-reports: after 1st screen USB wireless keyboard+mouse ignored. Install impossible

Using weekly wheezy installer i386 CD1 of 2013-03-04.
Used dd to make bootable media on microSDHC
Booted as expected to Debian greeter.
1st screen normal (choose Install or Graphical Install,  special
options etc) Chose Install by using keyboard.
Installer starts, presents Language Selection: no input
accepted. Neither mouse nor keyboard input possible.
Quit by PC hardware power button.

Comments/Problems:

The same issue arises when using the equivalent Live disc image.  The
wireless mouse and keyboard work normally within the Live environment
but if choosing Install at the greeter screen then everything stops
at the 1st install screen (Language selection) because no input is
possible.  The same hardware works normally with Debian Etch, Lenny and
Squeeze install CDs, and with Squeeze and Lenny Live CDs.  The same 
installer and Live CDs work normally on other hardware I have that
doesn't use USB wireless keyboad+mouse.
 
The following info is from a pre-existing Debian on the same hardware.
The keyboard+mouse work fine using the generic usbhid driver.
