Bug#702249: apt-setup-udeb: check for internet connectivity before looking for security updates
Package: apt-setup-udeb
Version: 1:0.77
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation?
Installing debian wheezy with live rc1 gnome installer with a system not connect
ed to the internet.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
The system did not have internet connection and I chose not to use a
network mirror
* What was the outcome of this action?
It was waiting for a long time to configure apt as it could not
connect to security.debian.org
* What outcome did you expect instead?
It should first check if the system has an internet connection (say
for example ping -c2 security.debian.org; echo $?) before looking for
updates.

You have to keep reminding your government that you don't get your
rights from them; you give them permission to rule, only so long as
they follow the rules: laws and constitution.
