Comments/Problems:

Boots fine if legacy bios only is selected in the system setup (bios)

if the system is in UEFI mode (required for dual boot) I see grub
stage 1 flash by and then a blinking cursor in top right (no response
to input at all)

I also tried beta4 which got a little further in that a text mode grub
menu appeared with the
option to boot the installer in text mode or graphics mode.
