Bug#681227: Can anyone reproduce #681227: installation-reports: grub-install tries to install to a nonsense string?!

Hi folks,

yes, this is a problematic area right now, and (while away from a d-i
keyboard) has been on my mind for a while. At this point, avoiding
regressions (and we've had some serious ones) would be nice, so
reverting to a stable point looks like the way to go.

(And really, sorry it took so long to get back to that.)

Looking at the common “install from USB” case, allowing users to pick
from a list of devices is going to be needed, and it's going to take
some time (hence my mentioning a probable rc2 in another
mail). Depending on how we present choices, or ask for input, we'll
probably validate input one way or another, so that bug should go away
at that point.

A few more (dozens) mails in -boot@ and I'm getting back to this
particular package.

Mraw,
KiBi.
