Package: install
Version: 7-12-04

The sarge-i386-netinst.iso file from current (dated 7-12-04) is burnt to a
CDROM.

The CDROM is installed and the computer is rebooted;

After booting from the CDROM the display shows the Debian splash screen;

a language is chosen (English);

a country or region is selected (United States);

a keyboard layout is selected (American English);

then it says ?Detecting hardware to find CD-ROM drives?;

it pauses at 81% with the message ?loading module ?ide-detect? for ?Linux
IDE Dectection??

it pauses again at 86% and says "loading module 'ide-cd' for 'Linux ATAPI
CD-ROM'...

finally it says:
[!!] Detect and Mount CD-ROM
Your installation CD-ROM couldn't be mounted.

A woody installation succeeded on this machine.

Regards,
Daniel Wisehart

These DMA issues while reading CD were reported against old kernels (2.4.x)
and debian-installer releases in 2004-05 and seem to be fixed a long time ago.
Hence i am closing this report and invite you to test and report any issues
against current debian installer release.
