The problem is that I'm installing it over an Etch install that isn't working fully (mainly X and network aren't working) since I upgraded my system, changing motherboard, processor, video card (now onboard) and memory.
I'm using the CD "debian-LennyBeta2-i386-businesscard.iso" downloaded according the instructions in http://www.debian.org/releases/etch/debian-installer/etchnhalf
I'm sending attached the full syslog, but the important part is this:

To me it looks like the debconf package is just broken (without Python 2.4 dependency) or that the CD should include Python 2.4.
