Comments/Problems:

The problem is that I'm installing it over an Etch install that isn't working fully (mainly X and network aren't working) since I upgraded my system, changing motherboard, processor, video card (now onboard) and memory.

I'm using the CD "debian-LennyBeta2-i386-businesscard.iso" downloaded according the instructions in http://www.debian.org/releases/etch/debian-installer/etchnhalf

I'm sending attached the full syslog, but the important part is this:

Oct 23 00:21:24 debootstrap: Selecting previously deselected package debconf.
Oct 23 00:21:24 debootstrap: (Reading database ... 1011 files and directories currently installed.)
Oct 23 00:21:24 debootstrap: Unpacking debconf (from .../debconf_1.5.11etch2_all.deb) ...

Oct 23 00:21:24 debootstrap: Errors were encountered while processing:
Oct 23 00:21:24 debootstrap:  debconf
Oct 23 00:25:43 base-installer: error: exiting on error base-installer/debootstrap-failed

Oct 23 00:25:44 main-menu[1391]: WARNING **: Menu item 'bootstrap-base' failed.

To me it looks like the debconf package is just broken (without Python 2.4 dependency) or that the CD should include Python 2.4.
