I have looked into this and the issue is actually in the GDK/DirectFB
port.  DirectFB resources are not released/deallocated properly when the
GTK main loop exits.

I have tried to see how this could be resolved, by GDK intrasics are
still a bit beyond my head, and I think a fair bit of the code has to
be reworked in order to do so.
