Weird renumbering of ethernet cards issue in d-i (reported by an user) - bug?

Hi guys,

Somebody who tested the first pppoe image I prepared reported a weird issue:

- -----------8<---------
- - [...] probing in eth0 was normal, but in case of eth1 and eth2 was just once
packet and then an abort

- - I came back to the menu again and selected PPPoE.

- - it found the concentrator this time, ( but on eth2?? Did it rmmod the
drivers in the meantime?? what for?? )
- -----------8<---------

Looking in the provided syslog, indeed it seems that there is some oddity
going on. I am reporting this here since I know there have been some recent
reports about issues related to multiple LAN interfaces and numbering, but I
don't know if this related and should be reported as a new bug.
