Looks like the current weekly images are completely broken.
Could you try a daily image? If you really want a full CD image,
I'd suggest Beta 3.

Please let us know if one of these works for you.

The daily netinstall from 8 Oct did install (the Gb LAN worked), but there were severe problems (if you wish, I can file a separate install report, but you asked to reply to this report):

1) Grub didn't work in the "rescue mode" when booted from the CD. I tried to install Grub to the floppy from the "Reinstall GRUB" menu selection, but it didn't do anything to the floppy, didn't show any error messages (just exited from the submenu like it had done something, but the floppy was untouched afterwards) and I couldn't find any log from the rescue mode runs. - When the installer was ran with the "install" selection, Grub install was indeed completed to the selected HD MBR, but this failed to boot with "error 17", I believe because of boot order differences due to BIOS settings changes (I can't put Grub to the real boot drive, first in the BIOS boot order, because it is a SATA RAID array which needs Windows drivers) - Trying to invoke Grub from a shell started from a CD boot but rooted to the HD root failed (grub not in path) - Manually dd'ing the images to a floppy and booting Grub from there worked and after installing Grub there properly gave finally a bootable system

2) Clock skew of UTC to local time difference after every boot because /etc/localtime is a link to somewhere in /usr, which is in a different partition. The installer fails to correct for this even when the partitioning assigning a different partition to /usr was done from it! (fixed by copying the localtime file from the /usr path over /etc/localtime).

3) X server crashes with the following in Xorg.0.log:

It's notable that GeForce 9700 series is not listed in the supported GPUs of the NV driver. The video card is Gigabyte GV-NX79T256DB-RH, a GeForce 9700GT.
