You need to look in partman's code:
svn://svn.debian.org/svn/d-i/trunk/packages/partman
It may need time before getting the way partman works as it has
several submodules....
In short, it's likely to *not* be a one-time/5 minutes patch.....
I personnally have little knowledge of this so if you intend to do it,
I suggest you subscribe to debian-boot@lists.debian.org....
