ok, I hope I'll learn how to properly file bugs without hassling fjp,
kamion & co.

I'd also like to track the AMD64 problem: if you try to switch to VT2 (no
matter if the progressbar is running or not) the fe hangs. I can reproduce
it with qemu but I'd like to be sure it happens on real hw as well before
filing the bug. Do you have access to any amd64 machine at university to
try this out?
