Method: I installed from Debian Mirrors using 3 Floppy Disks as my medium 
(Boot, Root & Network Drivers).

Machine: Compaq Deskpro

Root One Partition at 1.3 GB and the other at about 4.8 GB (6.4 GB HD).  My 
swap is about 297 MB.

I believe it did detect my CD Drive because in GNOME, it does work.  Haven't 
tried it from a terminal yet, but I do see that it detects it during bootup.
