I believe a 2.6.11 or higher kernel should work with that version of the
yukon.  The driver in 2.6.8 only works with PCI versions, not PCI
express which some newer boards now use.

Strange, unless the DHCP server isn't configured to hand out a gateway.

It isn't just a matter if loading snd-intel8x0?  Or is yet another
device too new for 2.6.8?

It is an ati, it is rather new, not surprising behaviour.

The new installer does seem like an improvement for sure.  Also much
easier to customize and improve than the old one.
