Problems while instaling Sarge on an Adaptec SCSI only machine

Hi list,

I'm trying to install Sarge (with kernel 2.6) on an Intel Server Board SE7501WV2
with an onboard Adaptec AIC-7902W controller.

The installer doesn't detect the scsi controller at all, but the driver aic79xx
is installed with no error bus not used at all, as lsmod is showing.
Debian installer will not give any error until it comes to partioning of the
disks. The installer says that there are no disks in the system (there only two
SCSI disks in the system + an ATA CDROM).

I think I ran into the problem described in bug #275006
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=275006

I also tried the workaround on the following web page:
http://wiki.debian.net/?DebianInstallerWorkarounds

But with kernel 2.4 i ran in two other problems: Modprobing aic79xx fails with
the error: No such device. And 2nd the e1000 network driver loads fine but i
can't get any connection.

I tried this all with the offical sarge net-installer and the latest installer
found at http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimage-testing/daily/i386/20050608/

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Christian
