As we don't really have news from Joshua Kwan (at least in -boot), who

This is not incompatable, actually: even if Josh answers with "OK, I
come back to d-i development and will take care of netcfg", this
package is important enough to have one, even two, backup
maintainer(s).
So, Geert, Christian, would some of you act as maintainer(s) for
netcfg?
The bug log in this package is huge enough to give you some work to
do..:-)
