SCSI Controller AIC7901
Hopfully my English is good enough! ;-)
I would like to install debian testing with net-install CD (Debian GNU/Linux
testing "Sarge" - Official Snapshot i386 Binary-1 (20050603)) on a IBM x206
with AIC7901 Controller. But installation process can't find the RAID1 hardware
array maded by the controller.
So I'd looked for the kernel modul aic79xx, but it was loaded (lsmod) without
any errors.
I was using the 2.6 kernel. After that I tyed out the 2.4 kernel and I get
always an error message on the screen (error loading module aic79xx.o).
Then I tested the machine with the debian-based distribution knoppix (linux live
CD) with kernel 2.6.11 and everything is working fine.
Can you tell what the problem is. Is there a generaly problem with this module
in interaction with this controller?
Where is the difference between debian-based knoppix and debain(-installer)
itself? Ok the kernel versions...
I'd like to run debian on my ugly black machine... ;-)
Many thanks in advance!
