preseeding and debconf-get-selections

Hi all,

Section 4.7 of the d-i installer manual says

"However, a file generated in this manner will have some items
  that should not be preseeded"

when talking about using debconf-get-selections to create the
preseed file. What would be an example of such an item?

I was thinking "hostname" but then saw the example file in appendix
C.1. set the hostname. What other values should not be preseeded?
And why?

Thanks,
