Yes, mine (i386, HP CD-writer) does as well. But the timing is critical for me 
because an open CD-tray is closed automatically at two points, both during 
shutdown and during boot (some kind of drive initialization thing I guess).

So there is a real risk that the CD will be crushed if the tray closes while 
I'm taking it out. So it would be nicer if d-i would allow me to take it out 
before shutting down.
