Bug#250033: destroys existing, unused lvm volumes by setting partition type to linux

Package: partman
Version: 34
Tags: d-i
Severity: normal

I did an install, from usb key, on a system that has an existing Debian
install, using LVM. That system had a few GB of free space on the disk,
which I told partman to autopartition. Before I did this, partman had
listed the lvm partition as type lvm. After the autopartitioning, that
partition was displayed with no indication of its type. I continued
(this first time I did not notice this change), and the result was that
the lvm paritition was not touchs, but its type was set to linux from
lvm. This made the lvm tools unable to use it until the type was fixed.

If I use partman and do not autopartition free space, it does not mess
with the type of the lvm partition.

I have attached the partman log. In this partman log, I first
autopartitioned the free space and reproduced the problem. Then I did an
undo, and manually made the root partition for the install.

I will only have access to this machine for a few more days, so please
ask for any other needed info quickly if possible.
