Hi Joey!
For a couple of days I have been trying hard to get sarge working on my
computer at home. While searching in the web for the solution I have come
across your mail answering a question, so I decided to write to you.
Yesterday (17. Nov. 2003.) I downloaded the DVD images for sarge from a
site near:

It booted succesfully the install-kernel. Choosing the cdrom-retriever a
lot of the modules needed are loaded. At a point it stucks however saying:
# Installing the module usb-discover failed for unknown reasons.
# udpkg: error while loading shared libraries: libdebian-installer.so.4:
cannot open object file: No such file or directory not. annas's postinst
exited with status 2048
# /usr/bin/udpkg: error while loading libraries: libdebian-installer.so.4
...
On `tty4' it reads:
# user.debug installer[139]: configuring 'anna' failed with error code 256
# user.debug installer[139]: Menuitem 'anna' failed.
# ... Lowering debconf priority limit from 'debconf/priority doesn't
exist' to 'critical'
# ... Package 'anna' printed to stderr, size=169.
Or something very similar.
From that point on nothing can be done, on `tty1' not even a shell can be
retreived.
Later on I tried to install some packages, by hand on `tty2' but was not
succesful.
I hope you have an idea what to do in my case or have a clue what
references I should consult. Thank you in advance.
Ps.: my computer consist of: Asus a7v, 800 MHz AMD-thunderbird, Maxtor and
Quantum HDDs (partitioned, and found under
/dev/ide/host[02]/bus[01]/target0/lun0/{disc,part*} formatted ext2 and
ext3)
