My first reaction on you post was that the Sarge installation program
a.k.a. "debian-installer", is only beta yet and I would not really
recommend it for a real install. Instead I would recommend installing
Woody, but only the base system, no ordinary packages, and then
upgrade to Sarge and install all normal packages from Sarge. However,
your installation seems to have been pretty successful. When I
tried the "debian-installer" some two weeks ago, I didn't get through
the keyboard selection phase :-)

Since Debian is so good at upgrades, installing (the base system from)
Woody is a very viable alternative, even if you find the applications
in Woody hopelessly outdated.

If your problems with Woody were with the installation of base system
just ignore this post.
