boot process slow

Hello,

I installed sarge (now became sid ;-) some days ago. That was the most
convenient Debian install I did since 1996!

Most things work fine, except that the bootup is relatively slow. discover is
called twice which interrupts the bootup process.

I am just wondering if there are any plans to
- detect hardware during install and write the configuration in a file
- during the bootups read the configuration from the file
- if new hardware is installed, the user should have the possibility to call
discover again manually and get the config file updated.

Thanks,
Rainer
