Developer wants to help in debian-boot

Hi

I want to help in the development of debian installer and boot process. I
will appreciate a brief note on which is the status now, how do I catch up
with the current work, the design guidelines / the goals to achieve, and
any helpfull notes to get me started quickly on this, so I can begin
working as soon as possible.
