There's little point filing bug reports about problems experienced with the woody installer; the sarge installer is _completely_ different, to the point where problems and wishlists for the woody installer are _completely_ irrelevant. It sucks to have to ignore the good ideas that people have about improving the woody installer, but it really is all that's possible at the moment. > It does seem that a pseudo-package for the debian-installer would be > useful; however, I don't see why the existing 'install' etc. > pseudo-packages aren't good enough, if people will stop assuming that > bugs filed there relate exclusively to boot-floppies. Mixing bugs that apply to boot-floppies and to debian-installer isn't helpful. Also, given the trivial amount of code shared between debian-installer and boot-floppies, bugs found in one aren't relevant to the other in most cases. > Would your request be satisfied if any bugs against install/installation > regarding boot-floppies were reassigned to the package of that name, and > the boot-floppies developers agree not to brush off bugs filed there > with "won't happen in boot-floppies" (and to reassign bugs to > install/installation as appropriate)? Honestly, I don't think the boot-floppies guys will or should agree to that. The priority for d-i is still to make things work roughly as well as b-f's, not to make sure random annoyances from b-f's don't show up again.
