I'm really confused about this. I've been running a 37GB ext2 partition without any problems, but I want to be safe when I'm doing this. When I asked around, i couldn't find anyone else who knew about this limitation.


I hope you can help clarify this..

I guess that is because of _very_ long fsck-times when your partition gets not correctly unmounted, with 6 Gigs the time is acceptable, with more you should use another filesystem like ext3, xfs, jfs or reiserfs.
