Bug#61679: Installation program suggests sr0 as cdrom device, which is not there

Package: boot-floppies
Version: 2.2.9

When installing Debian/potato on a system with SCSI CDROM drive, the
installation program suggests sr0 as CDROM device (it even seems to
make a soft link /dev/cdrom -> /dev/sr0), but this devices is not in
the /dev directory (there is only scd0 ...).

This leads to the effect, that the installation program does not
recognize a cdrom which is properly inserted in the drive.
The error message is something like "cannot mount CD" instead of
"device does not exist" as I would prefer it.

Because at least a Linux novice will have difficulties to work around
this problem during installaion, I consider this bug rather severe!

Note that the script "rootdisk.sh" in the package does not make the devices
sr0 and sr1.

Note also that the file utilities/dbootstrap/choose_medium.c does
contain sr0 and sr1 even before scd0 and scd1 .

I think that this discrepancy is the reason for the bug.

I do not know, what the proper fix is.

Best regards, Max.
