anonymous cvs usage

CVS makes me want to cry !

Im doing
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@cvs.debian.org/debian-boot login
I get bad CVSROOT.

Is debian-boot the CVSROOT, or is the CVSROOT a local path?

Can anyone explain simply how to checkout debian-boot, like the exact
command i have to type.

I did work out how to do it once, a while back, but cant remember now,
cant find the refernece i used to work it out either.

Ive looked through a heap of documentation, obviously not the right bits.

Is there any debian specific referance anywhere on how to use it.

Im sure it should be a simple thing, all its supposed to do
is keep a few version of some file.. a fancy ftp.

Am i stupid or is cvs overly dificult ?

Thanks

Glenn McGrath
