Your own scripts should start with "local-", e.g.
/etc/init.d/local-mpitune
Also, iirc you shouldn't use extensions
(of course, this is just "how it should be done on Debian"; it also
 works if you call your shell-script
 /etc/init.d/I_AM_NOT_GOING_TO_CALL_THIS_LOCAL.EXE *g*)
