Most of the online whitepapers, HOWTOs, and techical documentation on the
subject are purposefully non-distrocentric. So most of the answers to your
questions about process management etc. will come in the form of a
generalized discussion of the active parallelization mechanism, probably
MPI. If the documentation at places like

isn't detailed enough for you, you can pull up quite a lot of the original
work at the various abstract and paper publishers like http://citeseer.org/
