Just to follow up on our previous BLAS discussion, here are the level 2 and level 3 timing results of the latest atlas-optimized blas libraries versus the latest ascii red binary-only optimized blas on an Intel PII 350. The 12-99 file is against the PII Xeon binary-only released in 12/99, while the 11-99 file is against the PII (generic) binary-only released in 11-99. (lsblaspii1.2d_12.99.a and lsblaspii1.2c_11.99.a resp.) One can even come out ahead using open-source these days! Kudos to the ATLAS team.
