Cool! Not sure if you are aware of DEP-14 [1], but it has a very
convenient branch naming scheme you can use for versioning things for
Debian. It suggests debian/bookworm-backports in this case, but feel
free to use whatever you think it's best. Mind if you use
bpo12-<version> you'll end up with a lot of stale branches. You can use
only bpo12 instead and tag things bpo12-<version> and merge main into
bpo12 every time you want to update the backports with a new release.

For me, only the git repo is fine, but I saw Boyuan is way ahead of me
here.
