We had this discussion some years back about another person. In general, too much responsibility in such a project is a danger to the person (burnout), as well as the project and our users. Not only *many* packages can be a problem, but also few very important or heavy packages. Or one person responsible for a crucial part of our infrastructure. To a degree, it's unavoidable, because Debian has 64 times more work than we can actually do.
