Regarding the linux-4.14.12 packages, are there plans to get this uploaded into backports sooner than when it would normally fall in place? The docs say it is permitted for security reasons, and as 4.14.12 is the backport with the meltdown fix it seems to qualify. If not, is there some documentation on tricks involved in backporting the kernel? I was trying to backport it myself and hit the gcc-7 requirement. It seems like there might be some standard ways of dealing with this for something as commonly backported as the kernel.
