Re: VLC can't be installed: libchromaprint0 missing dependencies

Many thanks, Vincent, for taking steps towards solving the VLC problem.

And if I'm not mistaken, libchromaprint0 dependencies are already resolved:
wheezy-backports (libs): audio fingerprint library
1.1-1~bpo70+1+b1

https://packages.debian.org/search?suite=all&section=all&arch=any&searchon=names&keywords=chromaprint

dep: libavcodec55 (>= 6:10~beta1~)
    Libav codec library
or libavcodec-extra-55 (>= 6:10.1)
    Libav codec library (additional codecs)

dep: libavutil53 (>= 6:10~beta1~)
    Libav utility library

That was fast, congrats :-)

Hello Debian users and developers,

Though I didn't find any mention of VLC 2.1.5 on the Debian-Backports list
and most of us can certainly live with the Wheezy version of VLC, it seems
that VLC can nolonger be installed from wheezy-backports due to
libchromaprint0 which depends on two packages that are non existent in
wheezy-backports:

     dep: libavcodec54 (>= 6:9.1-1)
     Package not available
     or libavcodec-extra-54 (>= 6:9.10)
     Package not available

     dep: libavutil52 (>= 6:9.1-1)
     Package not available

Though libavcodec55 and libavutils53 are available in backports and can be
installed, libchromaprint0 sticks to its guns and therefore prevents VLC
from being installed.

I've filed a binNMU request (#774740) for chromaprint. Thanks for the heads up!

Vincent
