Fairly Major Bug in GnuCash 2.4.4?
Hello,
I'd like to report a possible bug I found in version 2.4.4 of GnuCash (found in
the Debian Squeeze backports repo).
Here is an example of how to see said bug in action:
1. Open GnuCash, version 2.4.4 (from the Debian Squeeze backports repo).
2. Start a new file (the actions below MAY corrupt your existing file's (if any)
data, so I recommend you start a new file) and load the "Business" set of
accounts. You may name the new file anything you'd like to.
3. Select "Edit" -> "Tax Report Options", in the top menu, to open up the
"Income Tax Information" window. In said window, in the "Income Tax Identity"
section, click the "Edit" button. Select the "S Corporation" tax scheme.
4. Next, in the "Accounts" section of the above-mentioned "Income Tax
Information" window, ensure that the "Expense" master account is showing. Expand
said account and highlight "Licenses and Permits". Then, in the "Account Tax
Information" section of the "Income Tax Information" window, put a check mark
against the "Tax Related" line. This will bring the "TXF Categories" section of
said window into focus. Highlight "F1120S Licenses" and click the "OK" button.
5. You should now be back on the "Accounts" page. There should be five "master"
accounts showing, "Assets", "Equity", "Expenses", "Income", and "Liabilities".
Now, attempt to expand "Expenses" master account (which holds the "Licenses and
Permits" account that you have just assigned a tax category to). Does the
GnuCash window disappear (crash)? It does for me.
TIA!
