You could try attaching some info, see second part of: http://x.debian.net/howto/report-bugs.html Depending on what fails, a newer kernel or X driver might help. In some cases, that might need a fix in the server, though. But in this case: Installing the new backport shouldn't pull anything different, so if it doesn't work better, you can easily switch to the backport currently available in squeeze-backports. That's what I would suggest, possibly combining that with a newer kernel. Mraw, KiBi.
